Question: Is it possible to "Tap" on a violin!?
You know how guitar players tap on guitars without strumming and it creates a sound!. Is it possible to do that on a violin!. a person in my orchestra can do it, but I just wonder how he can make such a loud sound doing it while I usually can only get about a Pianissimo sound out of it!.

By just pressing on the string you wouldnt get a loud sound because the string wont vibrate that much!. It is possible to press down with some fingers on the left hand while plucking it with a finger on the left hand also but i havent really seen that before!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was taught as a child to pound my fingers on to the strings to develop finger strength!. I can play most fiddle tunes loud enough that I can be heard through out an auditorium!. I would say you would need to practice it a lot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
