Question: How would I prepare for an impromptu speech tomorrow!?
As a final exam for a public speaking class, we have to make an impromptu speech!. The teacher has a list of topics to speak about in a hat, and whatever one you pick is the one you speak about!. You then have 1 minute to make an index card, and then you speak!.

It must have 3 main points, and an introduction and conclusion!.

How can I make this work!? I think it will be hard making it up in 1 minute, and then presenting for 2-3 minutes!.

Thanks for the help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's a tough one!. I had to do a similar thing when I interviewed for the State Department!. They gave you a topic, and you had 15 minutes to write a one page, single space, essay!. Luckily, they asked what I thought my best skill was at work!. Writing! :)

You just need to organize your thoughts, consider your conclusion first, and then think of how you would like to get there!.!.!. and not panic!. For example, your topic is!.!.!. sheep! Go!

Conclusion: The lowly sheep is a versatile animal that is a vital part of agriculture and industry, and deserves more respect!.

After that think of three elements that make the statement true: They produce wool, lanolin, tasty chops, easy to raise, and without them the Scots wouldn't have haggis!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Public speaking is still Americans ONE MOST DREADED FEAR!.

In aim to overcome this anxiety, simply PLAN your idea,
DESIGN it,
and DELIVER it!.

Realize that all your fellow students are faced with the same challenge!.

When the question is presented, TAKE CONTROL of your anxiety, realizing that this is a natural tendency (along with the sweaty palms and quick breathing!.)

TAKE A DEEP BREATH,

and deliver *the best presentation* you can, knowing that it is your best!.

Whether or not your reply makes sense or not is irrelevant!. - THE GOAL is simply to get up and speak your mind (on the topic!.)
Self CONFIDENCE is the key!. It is yours, so take it and apply it!.
GOOD LUCK!Www@QuestionHome@Com
