OK,
You can do it!.
It's going to be a bit tough though!.
However you have a bolt on neck so that makes it a bit easier!.

Some of this advice is really good!.

basically you are going to need to remove all the hardware form the body of the guitar!. The bridge, knobs, switches, pickups, everything!.
You won't need to take off the machine heads because I wouldn't recommend messing with painting the neck at all!
If you just have to have the headstock painted that way, then you'll have to take off all the hardware up there too!. and protect the neck and fretboard extremely well!. If you get paint on the rosewood, you're screwed! just do the headstock, don't paint the neck at all!.

You should take the neck off, though!. since you have a bolt on neck!. it won't be too bad though!. Just take out the bolts, and off it goes!.
Be really careful when you reinstall the neck!. do it slowly so you don't get in back on crooked or stripping the hole in the wood!.
(try not to get paint in the place where the neck goes and don't sand in there!. Mask it well with tape to protect that area!.

Some people say to use a good spray on auto paint or krylon spray paint!.
I'd stick with guitar paint!.

After you sand all the old paint off the body, you'll need to hang the guitar body up with heavy fishing line (like 30 pound test) so you can paint the body!.
What you need to do is spray on about 2-3 good coats of White Guitar lacquer!. Let dry!.
After the last coat, now it gets messy!
Hang up something behind the guitar to protect the work area (or parents will be pissed)
Then you need to have a small can of red lacquer paint and a small (1 inch or so wide)paint brush!.
Then what you'll need to do is dip the brush in the paint and then just fling it onto the SG to get that spackling red accent!.
Experiment on some cardboard to get the flicking technique right and then do it on your guitar!. You might try different sized brushes to to get the exact splash pattern you want!.

Then just splash the guitar with the red paint until you get the amount of splash pattern you want!.

After that drys, spray on 3 good coats of clear lacquer to protect the paint job!.
Then you have the fun of putting the guitar back together again!.

You might even ask a local guitar shop to take it apart and put back together again for you to make sure the neck and electronics go back on properly!.

I suppose that if you already had a white guitar you could splash on the red paint and then coat it with more lacquer, but the red paint might not stick well to the clear lacquer!. And you'd still want to take all the stuff off the guitar first!.!.

At least it's a cheap guitar you're trying to paint!.

Good Luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
