Question: Audition Song for Alto!?
Ok, I am more than capable of jumping some songs down an octive if that is nessary so that is not a problem!.

I am auditioning for Once Upon a Mattress and looking at the part of Winnifred, (a belter, which I can do fairly decently)!. She is spunky and outgoing and extremly optimistic!.

I have a Catherine Zeta Jones- type range if that helps!. Any suggestions would be fantastic!!
Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm an alto/low mezzo as well and I'm also faced with this Dilemma!.

My voice teacher and i go through countless songs so these are some of my favorites

Change in Me (Beauty and the Beast) - This one is what i use most often!. it's fantastic to show off capabilities and range

Somewhere that's Green (Little Shop of Horrors)

It's Possible (Seussical) - This may be a little high for you but it's a great song and worth a shot

Amazing Mayzie (Seussical) - That would be great for the part you want

Day By Day (Godspell) - Absolutely GORGEOUS for an alto!.

Send in the Clowns

Cabaret (Cabaret) - This is fantastic because it shows off range and is a very character song!. You could put a lot of acting into it!.

You Can't Get a Man with a Gun (Annie Get your gun) - Again, great for character and range!.

My top three choices for you would be:

1!.) Cabaret
2!.)Change in me
3!.) You can't get a man with a gun

Check them all out though!Www@QuestionHome@Com
