Question: Is my guitar messed up, or is it just my strings!?
The top two strings on my guitar do not sound out on the 2nd through 7th frets!. They sound out fine on the first fret, and also on the 8th and above!. The only way i can play my guitar right now is by having a capo on the 7th fret or above!. the rest of the strings play fine on all frets!. is the problem with the top two strings or the guitar!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi

The truss rod is too tight which causes the neck to bow around in the middle around the 7th fret!. You need to adjust the truss rod by turning it 1/4 turn counter-clockwise!. You repeat this until their is a slight bow (clearance of 1/16") , between string and fingerboard!.

If you can't do it, bring it to a luthier!. Nothing complicated and a simple 1/4 to 1/2 turn will relieve the pressure and make the neck bow the other way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is an issue with action, which means the height that the strings are from the fingerboard!. Go to a guitar tech to get it set up, most bigger music stores will have one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It sounds like your neck isn't straight!.!.!. take it to a music store and have a tech diagnose the problem!.
