Question: I'm trying to record myself playing guitar!?
but every time I play back what I played it sounds like a whole bunch of white noise is drowning out the higher notes!. I'm using the line-in in my computer and not the microphone so I have the amp directly connected to my pc!.!.!. it shouldn't sound so shitty!. has anybody done this and know what is wrong!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't know what kind of digital recording device you are using, but my first recommendation is to take the amplifier out of the loop and record directly to the computer!. Your soundcard should be able to pick up the microphone without the additional amplification and you are probably overloading it with too much signal!. There is a freeware program called Audacity that you may want to try if you haven't already found it!.

If you are going from the line out of your amp this may not be an issue, but there should still be no reason to include it unless you are using some effects that may be built into the amp itself!. You can find many of these effects in Audicity itself, or as VST plugins!. Best of luck and I hope this solves your problem!.

If you have a few bucks and like to play, you might want to try one of the new USB microphones like the snowball by the way!. I included a couple of links to Blue Microphones, Snopwball, as well as a review!. I got one at work and it seems to be a lot of fun!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Computers can not accept a direct line in from a guitar or amp!. You need an audio interface in between them!. You can plug your guitar directly into that, or a mic on your cabinet!. Cheapest way around it is to buy a USB microphone, but you'll be locked into the computers (limited) audio recorder!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
