Question: Ukulele Questions and Needed Help!!?
I'm thinking about getting into playing the ukulele!. So, I wanted to know a couple of things:

1!. What kind of ukulele would you suggest the most!? (tenor, concert, or soprano) I honestly don't care, I just want to know the benefits of each kind and which one is the most common!.

2!. I'm planning on buying it online, so where would you suggest to buy one!?

3!. How much do you think I should spend on a uke as a beginner!? (It's going to be a christmas present, so it doesn't have to be extremely cheap!.)

4!. What's the best brand for Ukuleles!?

5!. Anything else I should take into consideration!?

Thanks,
wrooney

Congradulations on your new endeavor!. A fun instrument with a great sound!. This is going to be a little long!.!.!.!.but it'll answer most all your questions about, kind, cost, lessons, etc!.
You've asked a question that pops up nearly every week!. This may be a little long!.!.!.!.but I think it'll answer nearly all your questions concerning the ukulele!.
You can purchase the more expensive one down the line!. And believe me you will eventually own more than one!. WE ALL DO! How many do you need!? One more!

Ukulele:
You can go the expensive Kamaka, G String, Koaloha, and others, all made of Koa wood and look beautiful!. But for starters I'd go with the Lanikai LU-21, 21C, or 21T!. http://www!.americanmusical!.com/ItemSearc!.!.!.
Each one is a little larger than the other and thus project and produce a better tone!. They're pretty common among music stores so you'll probably be able to find one around town!. Look at the reviews and you'll see that even tho' these are low priced ukuleles they're not low quality!. Check http://ukulelehunt!.com/buyaukulele/brand!.!.!. for a review and sound!. And also all kinds of beginner to advanced stuff!. A great site with links all over the place!.
If you want to see and go the more expensive ukulele you won't find it at Guitar World or other name brand guitar stores!.!.!.!.b/c they sell guitars!. If you want to see ukuleles before you buy you'll have to look for the regular music store!. Or an accoustic or folk guitar store!.

Betgin with the soprano uke!. It is the most common and the one that most people associate with ukes!. It is the smallest one, the one used by Cliff Edwards and Tiny Tim!. For sheet music, go to collections of music from the 1920s and 30s, the height of its popularity!. If you can find a Cliff Edwwards book (his nickname was "Ukelele Ike" and was featured in several movies of the time), these are the best!. Tunes like "Toot, Toot, Tootsie" or "Darktown Strutters Ball" or "Ja-Da"

Spend enough money for a wooden uke, not a plastic one, and be prepared to spend in the $20-40 range!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1) Each size has different tones: soprano is the original size of an ukulele; concert is louder and has a deeper tone, tenor has more volume and a deeper bass tone!. I suggest soprano!. All are commonly used though!.

2) Never buy an instrument online: you never know what you're really getting!. Always buy your instruments in person and in a music store!. That way you can try a bunch out and see which one you like!.

3) I suggest spending around $100!.

4) There are several good brands: Lanikai, Koa, Kanile'a (but really, it's all up to you to choose what you like, that's why I said no to online buying) Oh, if you live in California, Michigan, New York, or Washington, select stores sell Kamaka ukuleles, which are the best (to me)!.

-Even though you are a beginner, you want to buy a good, high quality ukulele!. High quality instruments don't have many problems (ie!. staying in tune)!. And that's a good thing!. If you're not interested in playing anymore, you'll obviously get money back!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
