Question: How to play minor scales!?
I really need help with this! I play Bb Clarinet so if I am trying to play e minor scale, in the key signature it says F#!. In the music as I am playing the scale it tells me to play C#, and D# on the way up along with the F#!. On the way down, I no longer play the D# and C#, but only play the F# right!?
If you could help me that would be great!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What you said is right!. That's the melodic minor scale!. Ascending, you'd play E F# G A B C# D# E, and then descending you play E D C B A G F# E!.

Natural minor is just E F# G A B C D E D C B A G F# E!.

Harmonic minor is E F# G A B C D# E, and the same descending!.

I hope that helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, the scale you're talking about is e melodic minor, which is when you "relax" scale degrees 6 and 7 on the way down!.

In e natural minor, it would go down the same way it went up!. Harmonic minor is the only minor scale that changes depending on if it's ascending or descending!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

if you look here www!.all-guitar-chords!.com and click scales it will tell you the notes and the names of the notes!. you can also get notes for upward or downward runs !. look at the aeolian mode!.!.!.!. but think by the notes you say, that you may be using the harmonic minor scale!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
