My personal choice would be to leave it on the hook!. This guitar is made out of plywood!. Not solid wood!. But like I said, that's my choice!.
For the $250 - $275 range, finding a guitar of this quality is not all that hard to do!. I think that Martin has a guitar like this!. Check them out!. Perhaps look at an Ovation but be ready to shell out some serious $$$'s!. Especially for the made in the U!.S!.A!. lines!.
But don't be discouraged by what I'm telling you, because like all things musical, if you like the sound, and the instrument feels good in your hands, buy it! That's what music is about isn't it!?
And besides, it's a Fender!. There is a genuine company with a long history behind it!.

If you're looking for something in that price range with those features, consider getting the Takamine D-series, I believe they are better!. Ashton also makes better guitars for that price, most of them are solid tops!.
The preamp basically is what you need to amplify the sound of your acoustic and plug in to an amp, so yes, it most definitely can plug into an amp!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
This is a entry level guitar that may be a little hard to play if you are new to guitar!. You will not like it as you progress and be bummed that you wasted your money on it!.
If that's your price range then look on EBAY for one and I gurantee you will find one that 100 times better!. You will be discouraged at not only your progress but at the way you sound after all your practice with that guitar!.
Look into maybe Talkamine, Taylor, Gibson, Martin, Ibanez, and Yamaha!.
I personally like and own 4 Taylors but they are way up there in price!. You can get a nice NON Laminated guitar on ebay used for that money!. Dont waste your money at any music store because you wont get much for that kind of money!. You will score a good one with a little effort on Ebay!.

Yes you can plug it in!. The pre amp is basically like an equalizer that hold a battery and allows you to ajust the Base, treble, etc!.!.!.!.!.
