Faster music can seem difficult and it is, but any piece slowed down enough becomes easy!. Find a tempo that you feel completely comfortable playing in, and play through the piece at that tempo every day!. Any time you make a mistake or question something (fingering, articulation, etc!.) mark in what will help you not to make that mistake again!. This could be an accidental, a breath mark, lines to mark the beats if you have trouble with syncopation, etc!. For the sixteenth notes, it may be overwhelming to look and see a bunch of black dots staring you in the face!. Putting brackets over each grouping can make it easier for your eyes to see trends, and then for your fingers to follow them!. Play it at that slow tempo every day a few times, and at the end of the week try it at the real tempo!. You'll be suprised at how well you do!.

For the one with basically nothing, remember that to a good musician, even the easiest piece should provide some challenge!. Make sure that you have good intonation, because for those long drawn out pieces, a long out-of-tune note will stick out like a sore thumb!. Adding expressive markings will also cast a great impression!. Just because certain articulations and dynamics aren't written in, sometimes the piece leads you to think they should really be there, so put them there!. Add some shape and color!.

They gave you a nothing piece to hear how expressive you can be, and more challenging technical passages to see if you know how to practice properly to make them seem easy!. Just remember that to learn a piece quickly, you have to practice it slowly!.

As a side note, being ready and having a good reed are great, but turkey and bananas have a mineral that can also help calm a nervous stomach!. ;)Www@QuestionHome@Com

For fingerings just keep practicing and eventually your fingers will get used to playing the harder parts, I have to play a piece on saxophone with one part with 32nd notes going from high Bb to Fnat to E to Bb to D nat to Eb, and it's not easy but after playing it in parts slowly I got used to it in a day or so!.

good luck but you sound fine, so don't worry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
