How can you tell the difference between an A-string and a D-string for a violin?

Question: How can you tell the difference between an A-string and a D-string for a violin!?

I always get them confused!.
They always end up in some swapped position!.
Is there any hint or clue to know which is which!?

I use Dominant strings for them both!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Put one on and tune it to a D!. You can tell by the quality of sound if it is right!.
I no longer use Dominant, but I thought they were color coded!.
You can also check to see which string is the larger diameter!. the larger would be D!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
