Question: What effects should I get for my guitar!?
So I just bought a fender stratocaster a few weeks ago!. It's an awesome guitar and I am getting better on a daily basis!.

I want to purchase my first effect pedal, but I don't know what to get!.!.!.I am not really knowledgeable about effect pedals!. also, I probably only have enough money to spend ~$100 at the moment!.

I don't know if it matters but my amp is a small 10watt Marshall MG10CD which has four knobs!.!.!.(Clean, Overdrive x2 and volume) also has a little OD select button!. I really don't know what all this means!.!.!.

Anyway does anyone have a suggestion as to what kind of pedal I should get!? I enjoy almost all music so it's not like I have a preference, but if you could only have 1 effect what would it be!? Or is it possible to get more than 1 with ~$100!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

First off, a beginner should look into a multi-effects board, which is a single unit containing multiple effects in one pedal!. Very useful, but can be somewhat costly, around $100-300 bucks for decent ones!.

But!.!.!. in your case I would invest in a better amp first!.
A 10 watt amp is of very low quality, including the excess background noise!. Effects and tone pedals would probably be barely noticeable in a 10 watt amp, so you wouldn't be using the full potential of an effect pedal anyways!.

Invest another $100 or so and buy a decent amp - a 30 watt Marshall or Line 6 will do!. The Line 6 Amps, and I believe the Marshall MGDFX series as well, have on-board effects anyways, so for around $200, you'd be getting a MUCH, MUCH better amp, along with a few effects as well!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think Boss Distortion pedal ($40) would be a better choice!Www@QuestionHome@Com
