Hey!.!.!.

Its a perfect age for either!. I started on Piano at age 4, and by the time I was 9 was still playing, and had also learned the violin, oboe, and moved on to Upright Bass at 9!. The only problem with guitar is the size!. You would have to look for a shorter scale, as the neck and distance between the frets might be a bit much for his hands!. Same with drums, but they do make smaller kits desigend for youngsters!. As far as looking for a teacher, look at your local music stores, as most of them employ teachers!. (Not Guitar Center)

By the way, on Myspace Music, ive seen a couple of youngsters that are not quite 10 years old who have already released CD's and have played guitar in front of thousands!. In reading their profiles, they started at 4 years old on guitar!.

Hope this has helped, and good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

NO it's to young for any child to play anything i started playing the guitar when i was 8 or 7 anyway he want make the guitar hurts your fingers the first couple of weeks oops make that months anyway he will cry if he's only 5 and not many people will teach children that young they would hardly teach me and i was 8 and i still play the guitar so no it will be hard to find someone to teach him so i would forget it well atleast till he's 10
and i wouldn't say to the drums they will drive you crazy and he will do it for a week or so and then forget about them and go play and they will never be toughed again so forget the idea till he's older and is more open about doing something for a while and plus that would be lots of money gone usless !!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think he could definitely start learning either or both!. You may have to buy a child guitar and I would recommend a family friend or someone thar knows a thing or two teach him the basics to see if he likes it!. Just make sure he doesn't hurt himself by breaking the strings (I did it all the time) and I wouldn't recommend letting him use an amp for a few years w/o supervision!.
As for drums you could buy a small set and get anyone that knows music at all to get him started

Hope this helped and hope your son becomes a great musicianWww@QuestionHome@Com

guitar, i would say he's too young for, but i ave a friend who started drumming, and this is no lie, when he was 2 years old, and he is one of the most amazing drummers ive ever jammed with!. you can really get good at drums if you start early because your brain is very open to the idea of rythem, the coorination take some time but'll happen!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
