Question: Violin Problems!.!.!. can someone help me!?
Ok, so I bought a brand new violin from a friend, and I am having some trouble tuning it!. It seems to knock itself out of tune as soon as I find the right note!. Is there some way to "lock" it in place that I may not know about!?

also, is there a good website (with audio) that could help me tune my violin!? I find it very hard to use a piano for tuning because the tones sound so different on the violin, and I do not have an electric tuner!.

Thanks a lot!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Any thing that will lock your strings will damage your instrument!.
Slipping pegs
First make sure that string is wrapped around the peg and ending on the side of the violin where you tune that string!.
If not loosen it enough to be able to guide the string to that position!. Now it is pulling the peg into the violin rather than out!.
If that fails take the string off one offending peg!. Take the peg out and rub chalk thoroughly on the area of the peg where it is going back in the violin!.
Put the peg back in and put the string on as I have explained above!.
Move on and do another peg until you have done all the slipping pegs!.
At first this will most likely take you 5 minutes per peg!. Only do one string at a time!.
Good Luck!. Enjoy your violin!.
Spend $20-$30 on an electric tuner that clips onto the violin!. Try Ebay
