You can get them for as cheap as $100!. I bought a brand new viola with a case for $120, and violas generally cost more than violins!.

Of course, the cheaper instruments won't sound nearly as good as the $1000 violins!. I'd say a violin costing around $500 should be decent for a beginning playerWww@QuestionHome@Com
