Question: What should I look for when buying my first violin!? !?
I really want to learn to play the violin, but i don't know anything about it and i don't know anyone personally that plays!. It is kinda hard to buy one when you don't know what to look for!. I don't want to get ripped off, so i need some help!. What is a reasonable price range for a full size violin and what should i look for in one as a first time buyer!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Get a violin outfit!. I wouldn't advise you to rent because that wastes a lot of money, unless you think there's a real possibility of quitting in the first few months!. A violin outfit includes a violin, case, bow, and sometimes rosin!. Make sure the bow has real horse hair and not nylon, etc!.

Don't get a violin from a local music store unless it's a violin specialty shop!. They usually overprice!.

also, don't get a violin from the internet because they usually overprice, except in your case because you're probably looking for a cheap instrument suitable for a beginner ($100-$300) so that's ok!.

Here's a link!. Any outfit listed is appropriate for you to buy depending on how much you are willing to spend!. Make sure it's a full size (4/4)

In addition, you will also need a shoulder rest!. You should get the
"Resonans Violin Shoulder Rest 4/4 Medium" or, if you're willing to spend a little more get the "Kun Super Shoulder Rest Violin 4/4 size"

Look for a violin with Ebony pegs & fingerboard!. Do not buy a painted violin!. It should not be a color!.
I assume you are a teenager or older!. Make sure the violin fits!. most likely 4/4 size!. Be sure the bow has horse hair!. Get an electronic tuner that can be attached to the instrument!.
Minimum $250 new!.
Your best bet is to find that violin teacher and let them help you!. It is a tough instrument to learn on your own!.
I do trust Shar Music

Look over the site for outfits, rental and trade in policy!. A beginners instrument would be a place to start, but if you stay with it, be prepared to buy a better instrument in 2 or 3 years!.

Go to the nearest violin/instrument shop!. There they can help fit you for your first violin!. Don't get one that's expensive because you're going to sound really bad at first!. But get one that you enjoy playing, that seems to make it easier to play!.!.!.!. good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
