I think you should go for the clarinet!.
I learned how to play almost every note on the clarinet in 4 months, and since you have 9 months you should be pro, haha :)
But once you get a hold of how to play each note, and where it is on the clarinet, its pretty easy!.
hope i helped! :)

p!.s when you first look at a clarinet it looks VERY complicating, but it really isnt :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I play the clarinet the past 9 years and i also play with a concert band which marches on saint Patrick's day and the like, i picked it up in a couple of months, ask to play the easiest part if you are going to though and if you find it too easy!.!.!. get the next hardest but you might not be able to play all the notes especially the higher ones!. However, my brother plays trumpet and it took him a while to catch on to all the notes cause you use you lips to pitch notes so it can get very tiring in the beginning until your lips get stronger!.!.!.!.what he did was start on cornet ( a smaller trumpet) when he was learning then moved onto the trumpet after a year but you don't necessarily need to do that!. but i would recommend clarinet, you can do way more!.!.!.!.!. and jazz is amazing to play, it's so much fun! hope this helps and ask me if your not sure, i' ve been playing a good while as you can see so i probably had the same problems or whatever!! It's up to you, each one has it's pros and cons!. Trumpet is more physically demanding than the smaller version of the bass drum!. On the other hand drums require hand-eye coordination and you may have to play different rhythms with each hand, depending on which drum you're talking about (I'm not sure if you mean the tenor drums or not)!. Once you learn either one though, each can be personally fulfilling musically!. Or if you take one up and find you don't like it, then switch to the other instrument before marching band starts!. Simple as that!. Best of luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

MARCHING BAND ROCKS!!! Anyway, I play clarinet, but for you, I'd say trumpet!. In marching band, trumpets are like the main instrument, and also the loudest, because you're at fortissimo the entire time! But being part of the battery is also cool too, especially during drum breaks!. Marching band is the most fun thing ever!. We got third place at states!. WE BEAT JAMESTOWN!! It's a rivalry thing between our bands!. The bus from syracuse was so fun!. you'll never meet anyone cooler than the clarinet and saxophone sections! Good luck, and hope this somewhat helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I do not know your High School Band but to learn enough in 9 months is going to require a lot!. I do not want you to be disappointed!. So the first thing to do is have a talk with the Band director!. Ask which instrument you could learn well enough to be in the Band!.
Good LuckWww@QuestionHome@Com

i would get the trumet!. but i perfer the clairnet and i have been playing it for 3 years u just have to likeWww@QuestionHome@Com

I love Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass!. I would get a guitar, and some rhythm stuff!. Go for the trumpet, but then again George Gershwin is pretty good too!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should really consider picking up a guitar and trying it out!. Rock out and good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

the tenor is easier but 9 months is enough to learn trumpetWww@QuestionHome@Com
