i wouldn't do bass drum!.!.!. people say it's easiest and all that but when marching, everyone in the band uses your beat to be in time and together!. I'm in a marching band so i know! and your the one that has to get your footsteps in the right time and all that!. unless you have excellent rhythm! I'd say learn clarinet, I've been learning for nine years and it's so much fun, it looks complicated at the start but it isn't and you'd catch on really really quickly! hope this helps and don't be afraid to ask me anything about it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

depending on your band's size, trumpet would have a lot less pressure attached to it!. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "small version" of bass drum, but there is a lot of pressure with bass drums and you will probably get yelled at a lot (i do)!.

playing wise, trumpet would be a lot harder to learn in 9 months!. then again, if by "small version" of bass drum, you just mean the smallest one on the line, in our band that drum's part is really hard, and i can barely play it, having been a drummer for 5 years now!. i'm not trying to scare you, but learning an instrument in 9 months is quite difficult, so be ready to practice a lot!.

to be ready for band, make sure you're in pretty good shape!. you don't have to be like a super-athlete, but make sure you are up for the task, physically and especially mentally!. it takes a lot of concentration!.

good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

you should do pit!. its better than anything else in marching band :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would say drum! As long as you have good rhythmWww@QuestionHome@Com
