Hi Kevin

First of all, put one finger on the 1st and 12th fret and see how much clearance you have at the 7th fret!. Their should be a 1/16" gap between string and fingerboard!.

Loosen the 3rd and 4th string first!. Now use the allen key or whatever you need to turn the truss rod 1/4 turn clockwise!. Now retune the guitar and check for the gap!. Keep adjusting until you get this clearance!.

Secondly, make sure you have BRAND new strings that have not been played!. This is the secret to perfect intonation and will explain why afterwards!.

Now, once you have the guitar tuned, if the fretted 12th note is flat as compared to the 12th fret harmonic, unscrew the saddle at the bridge and move it towards the pickups one full turn at a time!.
If the 12th fretted note is sharp, then, you will move tighten the saddle clockwise 1 turn at a time!.

Once you have done this, the intonation will be perfect and, when it starts acting crazy again, you dont have to re-adjust this!. By changing for new strings, the intonation will automatically be perfect!.

new strings!. you need to set the intonation with new strings!. when they are used they are stretched the intonation can be off just because the string is worn out!. you should have someone at a local shop do a set up for 40 bucks!. it is worth it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You need to adjust the bridge tuners using specific tools, one of which includes a ruler!. And unless you know what you're doing, you could mess up your intonation even more!. And to make it worse, it's 10x harder and more tedious with a tremolo bridge!.

If I were you, I would take it to the shop/local guitar center and have it professionally re-tuned for about $80!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
