Question: Alvarez acoustic electric guitars - Is smaller better or worse !?
since their smaller folk model (RF20SC) is the exact same price as their larger dreadnought model (RD20SC), i'm wondering if you have any opinions as to which one sounds/feels better!?

(it's for an adult who is an experienced electric guitar player, but this will be their first acoustic electric)!.

thanks!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Excellent question!. I am strongly biased towards the folk style, which is actually an auditorium size, also called 000 or OM!. I think it offers a much more balanced tonal range than the dreadnought, which tends to be bass-heavy!. also, the folk style is a lot more comfortable to play since dreads are large instruments that many people find uncomfortable to play for long periods of time!.

But ultimately it comes down to whichever one you like better!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think the only way to know which one sounds and feels better is to try out both and see for yourself!.

But its hard to buy a guitar for someone else, because every guitarist has his/her own idea of what they want their instrument to sound and feel like in their hands!.

My suggestion would be to take this person to the guitar store and let them decide which one they like better, or if you want this gift to be a surprise, give them a gift card and let them choose their own instrument!. That way, they'll be sure to get the one that suits them best!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
