Question: What is better for an audition, "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables", or "Bring Him Home" from les mis!?
I am a senior in high school, and i am auditioning for a honors choir!. I am a first tenor, and can sing pretty high!. so both of these songs are in my range!. i am auditioning for Ohio Universities Honor Choir, and i was wondering which of these two songs from les miserables would be a better selection to perform for my audition!. obviously, i am looking for a better general effect, a better song to show off my voice, and a powerful song in general, so just tell my what you think is better!.
thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Empty chairs at empty tables

both of these are beautiful songs, and i definitely cried at least once during rehearsals for both songs!. they're gorgeous!.

i would have to say bring him home!. it has a great vocal range, and can be incredibly powerful if done correctly, and sung with proper dynamics!. it is a song in which you can definitely belt parts, but you can also sing quiet and sincerely through some of it also!. it really shows off a good tenor voice, as it did in my show!.

that's my opinionWww@QuestionHome@Com

If you are a first tenor, "Bring Him Home" is probably your best bet- it will highlight your vocal talent in a way that "Empty Chairs" won't!. also, it's a better choice for vocal auditions= more musical, less busy/actor-y than "Empty Chairs"!. If you can really and actually get all of the range, than I would say that "Bring Him Home" done properly is a highly impressive audition piece for a 17 year old!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

'Empty Chairs and Empty Tables' is actually a baritone song!. If you are a first tenor I imagine that the song does not spend most its time in the 'good' part of your voice!. It is a low song for a Tenor!. If those are your only two options 'Bring Him Home' is a better song for a tenor!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
