Question: I didn't get in does that mean that I'm not talented!?
I audtioned to get into this performing arts school but I didn't get in so does that mean I'm not as talented as I thought!. I really wanted to go to the school since I could focus on musical theatre and I know the spots are very few (they only accept 20 students per incoming class) but I thought I was better then a lot of the people who auditioned! I'm so upset especially since I've been in several musical plays and showcases and have always been told how talented I am so I was beyond shocked when I got my rejection letter!. I must admit it was a blow to my ego and has me thinking I'm not that talented after all!. Is that what it means!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

No no no, people that deserve a position, or a job or anything don't always get it!. Like my mom was more qualified than this one lady when she was trying to get a new position at her work place, she already went to school for it, and the other lady had to go to school for it!. But she still got the job because she was the pretty young woman in her twenties!.
Just because you did not get accepted does not mean you are not talented!. Your just not what they were looking for, or that there were some other people that they liked more, or they may have thought that maybe say, you were talented but were close to the peak of your performance, and maybe could not get much better!. But the other student(s) were good/just as good, and they had more room for improvement than you, and may get more out of the school than you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, first off, it doesn't by any means you're not talented!.

It could simply mean that you weren't what they're looking for!. If I'm best with low notes and audition for a part in a production that deals mainly with higher pitches, that doesn't mean I'm not talented -- it means that my strengths aren't the strengths they're looking for!.

If you put in the right amount of effort, talent comes!. But so do other people -- just because you weren't the best of the best doesn't mean you're not good, and it definitely doesn't mean there's not room for improvement!.

I'd say, give it some time, work a little -- and try again!.

Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!. If only 20 people can get in, but 100 qualified performers auditioned, skill and talent are secondary!. Contact the school (pleasantly) and inform them of your desire to participate and ask what it is that you can do to make yourself stand out more and be selected!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it dosn't mean you arn't talented!. but it also means you shouldn't put yourself above other people =p!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no, you just weren't what the school was looking for!. im sure you are very talented!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I can't really answer your question because I have never seen you perform before!.

There are a number of possibilities though -

~You may be really great, but the school was looking for something specific that other performers had that you didn't!.

~You may have been just as good as 20 other people and they just happened to choose them!.

~You might not be as strong as they are in which case you might want to look at taking lessons to improve and then auditioning again!. You could be one of the strongest at the theater you are at now, but there is always somebody out there who is stronger!.

Sorry if the last part seemed harsh, but the fact is it is a tough business - but it is a business!. Sometimes politics happen and you won't get in somewhere - sometimes it may just be someone working cheaper, and it is a lot of hard work!

Best of luck to you, and take some time to evaluate yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no that's not what it means!. it does not mean that you aren't talented!. sometimes directors or schools are looking for something particular!. think about what you can improve; if you had a bad attitude or something that day, what did the others have/do that i don't have/do!? etc!. think in this mind set and it should help you!. sometimes you have to mature more; i can't tell you what they saw or didn't see!. all i can say is to just learn from this experience

either way, continue to do what u r doing and keep your hopes up!. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
