Aside from what the first person said, when you "throw" your voice, you're making it sound like it is coming from somewhere else!. He's right about that point!. What you're not asking about is how to make it sound like it is coming from a puppet, but rather from another location!.

This is actually an older form of ventriloquism that you're asking about that is still in use today!. Religious leaders and magicians would use this trick to make it sound like ghosts were speaking to them!.

What you have to first do is learn basic ventriloquism!. Learn how to talk without moving your lips!. There are many tutorials on this and a quick internet search will bring up many answers!. I prefer Steve Axtell's page!. Go to
http://www!.axtell!.com/learn!.html

He has a great introductory tutorial and a forum in case you need help!.

He has a tip on how to make the distant voice that's a good start, but it's not complete!. Start off at that page and practice with his tip, then ask questions if it doesn't come to you after a while!. It's a very hard trick, but it involves pushing the air through your diaphragm differently, making the noise in a different part of your mouth, and misdirection!. I don't play with the distant voice enough to keep up on it, but I can only do it sometimes and I have been on stage as a ventriloquist for quite a few years!.

Hope that helps some!.

Ventriloquists do not "throw" their voices!. That's a popular misconception!. Ventriloquists use misdirection to fool an audience into believing that the voice they hear is coming from someplace other than the ventriloquist's mouth!. A ventriloquist learns to talk without moving his/her lips, then moves the mouth of a puppet (or "dummy") so that the audience is tricked into associating the sound of the ventriloquist's voice with the movement of the puppet's face!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
