1- That smell is most likely the reed which tends to smell slightly after being used!. Or it could be you if you were eating rotten peanut butter recently!.!.!.
2-Its tricky at first- you will almost always see a treble clef more than a bass clef which almost never saw!.!.!.Check your fingering charts and practice practice practice!! If you run into trouble take it one note at a time and take it slow!. if you feel like a deer in the headlights(I'm a Minnesotan and actually know what that deer looks like) and are totally clueless when you play as an entire band contact your band teacher and ask for help on weekends and getting individual lessons!. Here's a fingering chart if you don't have one!. http://classrooms!.tacoma!.k12!.wa!.us/jlms/!.!.!.
3-Dont use alcohol wipes- they could ruin the finish on your clarinet!. Get a cleaning swab here's a picture- http://di1!.shopping!.com/images/pi/6d/eb/!.!.!.
You take the silver part and drop it into the bell of the clarinet and wait till you can see it come out the mouth piece and pull until the fabric comes out too!. If you are sick and still play soak your reed in some Listerine mouthwash and drop the mouthpiece into boiling water for about ten seconds of course without the reed and ligature(screws)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
