If you have a local guitar center, you should go there!.
In some guitar centers, they work off commission, so the employees can give you a discount!. If you're a really good customer, they'll give you bigger breaks, since all your purchases get saved on the database!. I actually got my $550 amp for only $400, and that same day my dad got his $2100 Gibson LP for about $1800!.

They also have a site, if you want to check out the guitars online before going in to look around!.
I think musiciansfriend!.com was a partner of guitar center!. Their prices are pretty much the same low price!.
I'm not sure about other stores that sell guitars like Music and Arts, ut the prices should be about the same!.

An advantage of buying from the real store is you can try the guitar out first, and then buy!. It's a really bad idea to just find a guitar online and buy it - there are SO many things about it that you personally might not like!.

And advantage of buying online is that your guitar is actually in brand new condition (of course, unless bought used)!. At guitar center, anybody can go in and play the instruments on the wall, and when you purchase a guitar, they just give you the one that was on the wall, not a brand new one :/

Good luck, and take your time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Remember, the dealer cost on most musical instruments is approximately 50% of the suggested retail price!. So, there is quite a bit of room for negotiation!.

A couple of stories about buying in stores:

1!. A few years ago, I went to Mars Music (does anybody remember them !?) to buy a Mini Stratocaster!. I asked the salesman to match their own online price, which was $10 cheaper!. He gave me such a hard time about that, until I was about to walk out the door!. Then he magically found that his "manager" could approve a special deal for me!.

2!. I was looking at a Line 6 Tone Port UX2 at Guitar Center!. I hesitated when I heard the price was $179!. The salesman then said "How much do you want to pay !?" So I said $110!. He okayed that with his boss!. As he was doing check-out, he asked "Where did you see that price anyway !?" I replied "Oh, it was just something I made up !" He was surprised, but still gave it to me for $110!.

So, next time you go to the music store, haggle a little bit !Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have built a good business relationship with my local music store!. Often, since I am a good customer, they will meet or beat the online price!.!.!.and I save shipping!

They will also give me the opportunity to test drive expensive equipment!. That may not always be possible with online companies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

She's right!.!.!.it better to go in and play the guitar to see how it feels & plays!. Gibson guitars really expensive!.!.!.the cheapest REAL Gibsons are the Gibson Melody Maker for $380!.!.!.!.then the next cheapest is the Gibson FADED SG or FADED Flying V for $700!.!.!.they rest are well over $1,000!.

Buying guitars online can cost a little more because they add shipping charges onto the sale!. You just have to double check it out, thats all!. Some places want to make a sale so bad!.!.!.
that they will sell it to you with free shipping!.
