Hi

Many call it woodwind flute!. At least that is the name generally used in many stores!.
One mostly used is English Horn!. This is the alto oboe!.

Wow, I'm an oboe music major in college and never had that problem ever!. You live around to many juveniles Www@QuestionHome@Com

In French, it's called "hautbois" (o-BWAH) but British English speakers pronounce that as (OH boy)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, you know the bassoon used to be called "fagotto", meaning "bundle of sticks!."

Since the oboe is the little sibling of the bassoon, I guess you can call it "little fagotto" !
