Ofcourse you CAN learn perfect pitch, is not a superhuman ability, all babies have it unless they have problems with their ears from birth!
If a child doesn't exercise it then it just fades away, but it is there to explore it!. Is more easy for a kid to exercise it because their brains and perception is more clear, then an older one!.(you know stress, responsibilities, etc!.!.!.) That doesn't mean is impossible!. Everybody has the ability to develop it in an older age!.
You will need an organ like piano or guitar and start practice with NO sheet music!.
1!.Put at first a simple melody on a cd and try to copy it, play it everyday again and again, at the beggining will be hard as hell but after awhile you will be able to "hear" the notes and recognize them!.
2!.Take a single note , 'hear' it and then try to identify it among other notes!.
Do that everyday!. Then when you learn that note go to another and so on!.
3!. After that learn how these notes you've learned to "hear" are named! Is hard but if you're dedicated everyday you will have results very soon!.

Do that everyday!. Then when you learn that note go to another and so on!.
Methods that i herd are effective but slow(some people took them a whole year!), this method that im telling you will have faster results and make you a good musician!.
also have in mind that you will need to learn relative pitch, the one needs the other in order to become really darn good honey!
I don't have any sources, i just herd of that technique and start practicing it on my own, and is working for me!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree that "perfect pitch" is something you have to be born with!. You can be taught "relative pitch", however!. Relative pitch is when you have certain pitches you are very familiar with and you can identify just about any other pitch by their relationship to the familiar pitches!. Learning this requires LOTS of repetition of notes, scales, intervals, chords, etc!. Combining all parts of your brain will help!.!.!.!. play the note while looking at it on the staff, saying it's name out loud (on pitch, preferably), and listening intently to its quality!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

teaching yourself to identify a pitch isn't impossible!. it's like the guy above stated just by going through scales, and consciously thinking to yourself what is being played, and then sing the pitches while it's being played!. but teaching perfect pitch would be incredibly difficult, if it's even possible!.

I've been playing horn for a while and i can generally hear a note and mentally go up a scale to identify it with pretty good accuracy!.
hope this helps a little!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Perfect pitch cannot be taught!. It is something that someone is born with!. However, through a lot of hard-work, one who isn't born with it can come close to having it!. I recommend doing scales every day and consciously telling yourself what note you are playing after!. After doing this for a while, you may be able to recognize commonly played pitches, but one must be born with true perfect pitch!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
