Hi Linda:

You've got GREAT seats! Ive actually seen many performances in the Detroit Opera House over the years!. I grew up in a suburb just outside of Detroit, and it used to be only a 15 minute drive to get there!. Now, Im about 80 miles away!. The last performance I saw there was in 1996, just after a multi-million dollar renovation of the house!. I had the honor of seeing Luciano Pavarotti!. Ive just gone through some literature I still have, and over the years since its opened, the seating has been REDUCED! As far as im concerned, there is not a bad seat in the house!.

In 1922 when it opened, it had seating for up to 4,250 people!. In the 1960's, it went through a minor renovation, re-opened as the Grand Circus Theatre, and seating was reduced by about 900!. After the renovation in 96, seating again changed, and now seats 2700!.

If your not from the Detroit area, and are visiting, this is sure to be something you'll remember the rest of your life!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
