Question: Acoustic guitar for beginner!?
So I've had my electric guitar in storage for a couple of years now!. I pulled it out last night to play a little and my neighbors freaked when I turned on the amp!. In the act of trying not to have the cops called on me by several people I'm going to trade it in for an acoustic!. Besides I like the acoustic sound better for solo play!.

It's been a few years since I've played my guitar and I'm pretty rusty!. So I need a nice sounding guitar, that's good for a beginner (plan on making my roommate learn as well) and an intermediate player, and that isn't too expensive (I don't want to have to worry about it being scratched or hurt in any way) when I decide I'm a decent player again I can go buy a more expensive one!.

So anyone have any ideas!? I've been looking at an Ibanez V200S

The Ibanez V200S is a fine guitar!. I would also consider the Yamaha F335 ($149 @ Musiciansfriend) and the Jasmine (by Takamine) S34C NEX ($129 @ Musiciansfriend)

Though these are both laminate (plywood) top guitarsI would ask you to consider the following:

1) Laminate tops are sturdier and more structurally sound than solid tops!. This is going to be a beater!. Plywood holds up well to abuse and the untrained ear is hard-pressed to hear a difference!.
2) The grade of wood in lower end solid tops is often so low that laminate tops can sound close to if not equal to their solid counterparts!.
3) Playability is more important than tone in this level of instrument -- any of the three model of guitars listed above would be dramatically improved if it were professionally set-up!. Buy one of the less expensive options, take the savings and invest it in a pro set-up!. You'll be glad you did!.

Good luck and have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com
