Question: Question about string gauge!?
I just recently gauged up from !.012's to !.013's (i have some REALLY strong fingers and my guitar has a low action) but I'm worried that it might warp the neck prematurely, any thoughts!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

With proper intonation and truss rod adjustment, and keeping the guitar well-maintained and in a benign environment with few shifts in temperature or humidity, and there will be no issues at all for the forseeable life of the guitar!.

Hi Mike

If you put !.012 or !.013, you will need a neck adjustment!. The truss rod will have to be tighten a 1/4 turn clockwise to compensate!. If you wait, then expect to see warpage inside the month!.

Prevention is best taken immediately!. Often, the neck warps and we have to put it under the iron and that always causes fret issues because of the heat!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is what the truss rod is for!. If you're worried about it, take the guitar to you local guitar tech and have it set up for the heavier gauge strings!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
