Question: Relearning how to Sing!?
Hey there!. I was in choir from ages 13-14 while I was in middle school!. I was pretty good as a baritone I'm told!. I don't think I ever heard a recording of myself oddly enough!. Once I entered high school I wasn't in choir so I stopped singing, foolish me!. I am 20 now and would like to regain my singing voice!. I've been practicing loud in the car while I'm driving because I can't use my hands and it's a productive use of time!. I don't sound particularly fantastic now, but I hope to change that!. I'm having trouble gauging between what my voice sounds like to me and to others!. My voice to me and my voice to others is a significant change in how deep it is and how stern a tone I have!.

I remember some of the warm-ups I did after I had made progress in the skill, but I don't remember my first year when I was learning HOW to sing!. I won't be having a teacher to help me out or a group to balance my voice with so I need an effective way to do this on my own!. Does anyone know of any GOOD books or tutorials on learning to sing!? There's so much out there but only so much is of real quality!. I probably won't be able to reach the full tenor range since I'm not one (and my voice has deepened much more since then), but most of the music I listen to is sung by tenor/alto voices so I'd like to sound decent while singing along!. If I can get a good baritone voice back, that would also be awesome!. Thank you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It concerns me that you state you "won't be having a teacher!." If you truly desire to sing on a regular basis you need a qualified voice teacher!. If finances are a problem, most reputable teachers have full or partial scholarship openings, or work-study, or both!.

There is really no way to learn to sing without having a qualified professional give you immediate feedback, stop you when you're doing something wrong, and correct it on the spot!. I've been teaching over twenty years and every time I think I've refined my explanation to the point where nobody can possibly misinterpret what I mean, someone does!.

There are probably at least a dozen teachers within ten miles of you!. Don't risk damaging your voice--go to a professional!. Especially if you plan to sing countertenor (alto), you really need to consult a professional!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
