Question: Looking to buy a second guitar!.!.!.!.!.!?
Hi, I have had my first guitar for about 4 or 5 years now, it is an classical acoustic guitar with nylon strings!. I am looking to buy a new acoustic guitar but with metallic strings instead, I am in college and cannot spend much money on a guitar, although I would if could, so my budget is limited, probably not more than 100 dollars!. I know that for that price you cant get a REALLY good guitar!. So where could I find a guitar such as the one i have described!? What are your opinions on what guitar i should buy!? P!.S i am not a complete beginner, i have been playing guitar for 4 or 5 years now!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

$100 budget is going to be difficult!. If you're used to classical guitars, you're going to want to buy a steelstring with a more playable, brighter sound I think!. You also need to factor in that Steel strings in the lowest price brackets are more expensive that the lowest priced classicals AND have more problems with things like intonation, scale, etc!. I think you need more like $300 to get something that will be enjoyable to play!.

Taylor guitars really suit classical guitar enthusiasts, and I think they would suit you!. The only one that's going to come close to fitting your price range is a USED Taylor Big Baby!. Look around sources like Ebay, craigslist, the local paper, etc!. I have linked one example here for you!.

also take a look at harmony-central!.com in the "user reviews" section for acoustic guitar listings!. You may find some economically priced brands that will suit you well!.

If you're looking to go cheaper than the Taylor, I would recommend trying out some Takamines and Ovations at Guitar Center!. Cheap Ovations tend to sound pretty bad but have excellent playability and intonation--might be great for your purposes!. Takamine is my favorite economy brand but their guitars vary WIDELY from guitar to guitar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
