Question: How hard/easy is it to switch to bassoon!?
Hi, I've played piano for 11 years and french horn for 6!. I've always wanted to play bassoon but really only seriously started thinking about it now!. I already read bass clef from piano so it would really be an embouchure switch!. I also have pretty small hands (I can play octaves on the piano comfortably but I can barely reach a ninth)!. How hard/easy would playing bassoon be!? Thanks,Www@QuestionHome@Com

Clarinet-bass clarinet would only be relevant if s/he played oboe!.

You're probably going to be starting from scratch!. The embouchure of brass and double reed are completely different!. Once you get that and fingering, I don't think it would be as slow as if you didn't play anything!. You can read music, hear what sounds right/wrong and have the finger agility already!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well i switched from clarinet to bass clarinet and it wasn't hard at all so i think you'd be cool with switching it really the same only an octave lower!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
