A Tremolo bridge is SUPPOSED to tilt away from the body of the guitar!.
If your tremolo was all the way down to the body then you only had half your tremolo working!. All you could do was bend the note down, which is worthless!. A proper tremolo is a "floating" bridge with the tremolo raised about 1/8 of an inch above the body!. This will give you a full step tone up when you pull up on the bar!. A proper tremolo technique is to rhythmically bend the tremolo up and down with equal distances to create a nice balanced tremolo effect!.
A bar only bending down can give you a big note dive like Van Halen but you are only using half of it's capabilities, and musically limit the effectiveness of the tremolo effect!.
Most new guitars with tremolo systems do not come properly set up for tremolo!. (I believe to prevent damage during shipping) All the Strats I've ever owned came with the tremolo in the full back (on the body) position and had to be adjusted before using it!.

Now you can tighten your tension by adjusting the spring holder bar inside the guitar farther in to tighten the strings!. If your tremolo is WAY high then you'll need to do that anyway!. To reduce the height to about 1/8 inch!. You can tighten so the bridge rests against the body so you can keep the guitar in tune during string finger bends!. But the Floyd Rose is supposed to prevent de- tuning when using the tremolo!.
And what's the point of 1/2 a tremolo!?

Just remember to loosen your strings before you tighten the screws, that way the tension won't get too high to break strings!. Tighten a little and then re-tune!. Check the height and adjust again until you get the proper balance between tune and springs!. It can be a bit of a pain to do , but once you get it set up properly, you'll be much happier with your tremolo's performance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no it won't make the strings break if it is properly tuned, adjust the springs for your gauge of strings!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
