The fastest exercise I can think of to improve your range, is an octave slur!. Pedal tones will only loosen your chops!. I'm almost entirely sure that they won't help you to reach higher notes!.

You might try starting on a F (in the staff), dropping to a B flat (in the staff), slurring up to a B flat (right above the staff), and repeating!. I would usually do this first in whole notes and then in halves, and then in quarters without stopping!. Then you drop down to Eb and repeat the process(Eb, Ab, Ab) and then down to E natural (E, A, A), etc!. Once you've done this you can add in an octave!. If you do this enough over a period of time, your range should increase pretty quickly!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

buy a metronome and practice you butt off!. you need to be more dedicated to music or you will get nowhere with it!. quit slacking and asking questions on yahoo answers, you should be practicing!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
