if you are using all flat wound string of steel about every year if you are playing daily!. If you are using gut or synthetic with flat winding, you will need to change them about every 6 months!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First off I'm not a violinist but I am a musician and I play in an orchestra!. It depends on how much practice you do everyday!. 3-4 hours a day requires you to change your strings anywhere between 6 - 12 months, whereas less practice you can change them anywhere between 12 - 24 months!. Hope this helps! Www@QuestionHome@Com

My little sister plays violin and she knows by when the strings start to sweak or unravel at the end, but I would change them at least once a year!. It depends on how much u play also!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
