Question: Seymour Duncan Full Shred or Dimarzio Breed: Which is better overall!?
I already have an SD Full Shred installed in my Fender MIM and it sounds pretty decent, but it seems like it's lacking a little bit!. It's kind of thin, ice picky and trebly!. So I was contemplating swapping out the SD for the Dimarzio Breed!. How is the Breed compared to the SDFS!? Would the Breed subdue the ice pick and is the Breed versatile!?

Thanks for your help!

First off, you do have a tone knob, right!? Use it! Try rolling back your volume a bit as well, this tends to dull treble a bit too (unless you have the bleed cap mod installed!.!.!.)!. I roll back a little on both and tend to get a nice warm, fat tone!.

I don't think you have reasonable expectations of your tone at this point!. If you're playing a Fender, it's going to be very difficult to get a truly beefy tone versus a thinner, more prone to icepick tone!. It's the wood, man, the wood you're playing through resonates at high frequencies, and hardly resonates at all at the lower ones!.

That said, some of the Full Shred reviewers at Harmony Central (second link) agree with you - even guitarists playing through the Les Paul style thicker bodies!. Lots of treble, medium to high output!.

The Breed reviewers (first link) said it was pretty decent, but there's some disagreement as to how the EQ response plays out on different guitars!. A couple say it has too much bass, too much mids for proper rhythm work, but the treble is reduced!. Medium to high output!.

Based on what you've told me, I would say that it is one option for you!. Lots of bass response is just fine in a bass-deficient guitar like a Strat!. Some punk bands (Green Day, Blink 182, etc) have put Seymour Duncan Invaders and put them into Strats!. Tons of bass response but little bass in the guitar means an even response!.

The gain won't be any hotter, so it could be used basically how the Full Shred is being used right now!.

Read some of the other reviews on Harmony Central, and see if you can find something that resonates with you a little more!.

I have a Seymour Duncan sh-11 custom that sounds great

I also have a JB Jr!. i like it but it lacks a little i always have to turn up my gain a little more im sure the full JB might be a good choice too, if yours sounds trebley, and if its the EQs your worried about you should get an equalizer pedal, i have one and it fills the empty space www!.musiciansfriend!.comWww@QuestionHome@Com

I can't say I've ever played DiMarzio Breeds, but I must say Seymour Duncan is one of my favorite pickups!. Have you thought about getting a nice preamp!?
I admit I've heard some reviews that really liked the 'fat' sound that the dimarzios get, though!. See if you can get your hands on an axe with dimarzios and compare it to yours!.
Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
