Question: What makes tutus stick-out!?
What goes into a ballet tutu that makes them stick-out so far
horizontally, instead of being pushed down by their own weight!?
It seems to defy gravity!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Correct!. Years ago in the 1700's, an enterprising inventor managed to create an antigravity solution that caused things to float when he painted them with it!. He was fond of the ballet, but moreso the ballerina's legs!. Tutus in that day and age were of the classic variety - shin length!. So he snuck backstage before one performance and sprayed his antigravity liquid on the pimadonna's tutu!. Not only did her skirt rise to the occasion, but her lifts and jumps were astronomical! Ballerinas have been using the secret liquid ever since!.

Really, its just how they're made!. They use tulle, which is a semi stiff netting!. Gathered together it becomes stiffer!. Layers and layers of tulle are stitched onto a pair of dance panties with the bottommost layer being the shortest and the topmost layer being the longest!. Layers are stitched upwards so that the downwards pressure pushes against the stitching adding a little extra stiffness!.

I've linked part of a tutorial that shows how the pancake tutu is constructed from many layers, each one smaller than the one above!.

A material called webbing,a fly-wire like medium!. With the technique of layering, the shorter pieces put at the top, and the bigger pieces at the bottom!.
