well i would say get a fender!. Not a way nice fender but like a cheap one like a starcaster!. they sell them at sams club they are still fenders people wont laugh at you but its a good starting guitar!. also there is squire which is kinda cheap but a good starting one and of course first act guitars which are pretty cheap!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It really depends how cheap you want to go!. The starcaster is a VERY cheap guitar, being budget brand of a budget brand!. I have the Laguna starter pack, which costs about 350!. I compared it to the Squier and Starcaster at guitar center, and it totally blows them away as far as quality, even though it's not "name brand!." Plus the amp that comes with it is better!. Ibanez is also another good brand!. I have heard good things about the squier deluxe strat, and it isn't too expensive!. A good rule of thumb is to get the most expensive guitar your budget will allow!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you're gonna play metal go for the BC Rich, if you want to rock go for the Ibanez, and if you want some bluesy rock stuff buy the Squier by Fender or the Laguna!.
