Question: My flute does not play f, e, or d!. what is wrong with it!?
i play in our church orchestra, and it played fine the first song, in the middle of the second song, it quit playing those notes!. nothing comes out of them!. i have had this fixed, but since this person who fixes flutes is on a different island (a 24 hr!. bus ride), i have not had this explained to me, and unfortunately the person who picked my flute up from him, has no knowledge of flutes, and didn't care to ask!.
it stopped working again two weeks ago!. can someone explain this to me, and what i can do to fix it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You either have an unhooked spring, or a bad leak ABOVE those notes - maybe the F# tonehole or one of the G keys!. Could be anywhere - but that is my best estimation from your description!. I am sorry that you live so far from a repair tech - this is an easy fix!. You might wish to SHIP your flute to a tech to get it fixed - one of the big places like WoodwindBrasswind, if you do not know or trust independent repair techs!. You will be without your flute for a short period of time, but it will be done correctly!. Not all of the big flute shops will work on students flutes ( which is what I assume you have)!. Go to Yahoo GROUPS and joinf Flutenet - there, we can discuss this further, and the 3,000 plus flutist there can give you additional advice, and easily connect you with a good repair person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ok this might be hard!.

Try the screw cap at the top of the mouth piece section and see if that is lose!.

Next, look at all the screw and see if they are lose!. If you invest in a glasses repair kit you should be able to get at the little screws!. Some I just used my finger with!.

The screw that get me are the top screw that is by the left thumb fingering!. and the ones around the pinky key on the left hand!.

Finally, try the two little keys in the middle of the second and third right fingers!.they should be raised!. If they are touching the body of the flute, that is wrong!. Temporarily, you can fold up a piece of paper and keep it up!.

I hope those help!Www@QuestionHome@Com
