Question: PIANO LESSONS!? can anyone help!?
i'm thinking about asking my parents to let me have piano lessons!. even if its just for 3 or 4 years [my family isnt exactly made of money lol], so i was wondering, if i took piano lessons twice[or more] per week, for an hour at a time, how long would it take me to play the piano properly and or/ what skill level would i be at!?
[maybe suggest a piano song based on difficulty]

i know its not much time to be spending playing the piano [3 times a week kinda thing], but i would really like to know!.
im 14 as well, so would that influence the way my brain interprets and learns music and how fast!?

and how much are piano lessons btw!? [based on the sketchy information i have given!?]!.!.!.if i were to receive them a from a school piano teacher!? [or if you are a teacher, could you give me some general information]

ok, thanks!. your help is greatly appreciated :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

most people only get 1 lesson a week, since you wouldnt make much progress in half a week, so there's basically no point in having two per week!. also, if you're just starting out, your lessons might be slightly shorter, maybe 15-45 min instead of an hour long, depending on the teacher and your own preference!.

skill levels will vary because of lots of things!. i think i was probably playing something like fur elise by the time i was playing for about 4 years, but it really depends on who you are!. the more you practice, the faster you'll improve!. its better to practice daily than to practice a lot on one day and then skip the next few days or so because you'll start to retain the skills faster!.

also, since you're already 14, it might affect your playing ability because you won't have the same experience as someone who has been growing up with music!. ive noticed that people who start older might have a stiffer technique because their fingers arent as well adapted, but don't let that discourage you because enough practice will fix that :) theres also music theory (things like being able to read the music and analyze it) and things like that!. its a bit like learning a language, where its a lot harder to learn a second language fluently as you get older, and music is a language!.

piano lessons are relatively cheap when its just the basics!. id say probably around $25 a lesson, give or take!. its a good idea to take them from a school music teacher, or ask them to find you one if you don't know anyone else who might be able to!.

good luck on your piano lessons! :DWww@QuestionHome@Com

My first response would to ask if you already have a piano (or keyboard)!. If you do, just bash away for now until you get lessons!.

One lesson a week is quite sufficient!. Do you need to learn to read music as well!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Me, im still taking my piano lessons and of course you start off with Grade 1 (Beginner's grade) and i take 1 time a week with 45 minutes and it depends on what school!.!.My piano school is 60 RMB per session (RMB is a china money) which is about (to make RMB into dollar by dividing by 7) anyways, It depends if the person is a fast learner or lazy!. If you can practice many times per week, i think you'll be grade 2 then!.!. The piano school only teaches you the musical notes but if you need that letters with sharp and all, just research it at google or yahoo!.!.Yes, i guess it would be influence but if it is 10 times that is so much better and you can be in a higher level and be a good pianist!.!.

Good Luck & Have fun with Piano!

P!.S!. You need a piano (maybe a real one or an organ) so that you can practice at home!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One lesson a week is sufficient - but you need to PRACTICE every day!. You can learn to read music on your own - go to a website like www!.practicespot!.com and do exercises there, even the one you print out, as worksheets!. You will need a decent keyboard at home - at LEAST 61 notes to begin with, 76 is better, and of course, 88 is best!. You can practice with headphones, so as not to disturb anyone else, too!. But the CRITICAL part in all this is the teacher!. Find one who is degreed, certified, and experienced!. There are WAAAAAY too many posers, amateurs, and idiots who say they can teach you!. And stay away from those websites that say they can teach you - if they cannot HEAR and SEE you, then cannot teach you!. Good luck with your lessons - you sound serious and motivated!. The cost of lesson varies with your locality - I livee 100 miles north of New York City, and teacher here get $30 a half-hour - if they have the qualifications I stated!. Unqualified idiots get less - and aren''t worth even THAT!. You might even look into group lessons at a music store or local school or college - they are less money, and like an aerobics class, it is good to see OTHERS working just as hard as you!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
