Question: What parts of the alto saxophone are you supposed to clean!?

You'll want to shine your sax with a cloth and clean your mouthpiece at least once a week with hot water, soap, and a toothbrush!. During the course of the year, make sure you use key oil on all the ball joints twice a year and check springs and screws!. Be careful to use only a small drop or it will get everywhere!. Get a padsaver, a mouthpiece saver, and a neck saver!. Trust me it'll save you in repairs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do NOT get the pads wet! You may rinse out the neck if and only if it is removed from the rest of the instrument (dry thoroughly-- immediately--and try not to get the cork wet)!. You may scrub out the mouthpiece and ligature (remove the reed--wipe off the reed or use an anticeptic spray for musicians--dry immediately)!. You may use a dry cloth to polish the lacquer (brass coloring) on the body, but DO NOT GET THE PADS WET!. Mousiture is the enemy of the saxophone's pads!. If you get the pads wet, they will lose their "seal!." Over time, you will need to pay someone a lot of money to replace them!. You may also want to invest in the "fuzzy stick" to put into the body of your saxophone when you are not using it to help pull the moisture out of your instrument that occurs when you play it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
