Question: What do you normally play for Drum Corp International auditions!? !?
I'm trying out for a couple drum corps for the 2009 season, I know I can only be in one, but I'm auditioning for two different levels
i'm auditioning for Phantom Regiment, and Pioneer (but phantom would be awesome!)

SO!.!.I was wondering if anybody has had any experience playing or auditioning for a drum corp!. What do they normally have you play!?
I also play trombone, so I'd be switching to marching baritone!.
I have played the following pieces though:
On Baritone I've played Morceau Symphonique and Trombonology (just so I could get the pitches down when my trombone was in the shop getting fixed!.
On trombone I've played:
Morceau Symphonique, Trombonology, The Wanderer, Andante et Allegro, Variations on Napoli (trombone quartet)!. Then In highschool I've played 1st and 2nd parts, and during my sophomore year I beat 3 seniors in our concert auditions!. (There were 5 seniors) I've also tied for 1st chair junior and senior year in the jazz band so we switched off who played which part!.

So if anybody could be of assistance, please help!! Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
most corps that i have observed or worked with run a mini camp!. while you are expected to play an audition *(materials worked on in mini camp) you are actually judged on every move you make during camp!. criterion include;
are you serious about your playing & marching!? do you learn fast!? are you a whiner or a winner!? how well do you get along with your corps mates!? are you self disciplined!?

when you play your auditions the panel looks/listens for;
tone quality, control, articulation, posture, breath control/support, confidence, intonation, phrasing

materials used at auditions are common corps excercises and possibly real music excerpts!. most corps post their music online or will mail it to you ahead of time if you request it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
