Squire strats are actually very good instruments for the beginning guitarist!. They are simple but elegant guitars!. I'm not really sure what you would need to know ahead of time, other than it will require lots of practice!. Callouses will develop in as little as a week and a half if you play about every other day!. Don't worry about the callouses, it's common for the beginner to be worried about them!. You won't even notice the building process that much!. All you will know is that it hurts if you play guitar a lot in a short period of time!. An amp should be a pretty good investment, but if you buy a guitar/amp pack, you should do fine!.

Here are some packages that give you everything you need!. You get what you pay for, meaning that the more you pay, the better the guitar and amp will preform!.

This is my opinion: Squire Stratocaster is cheap and good for the beginner!. But I suggest to you not to buy one because it often go out of tune!. Besides that, if you plan to buy a guitar, you should buy a very good guitar because it costs a lot of money (unless you have a lot of bucks)!. One more disadvantage of having stratocaster is it will not last long!. I have one before and it only last for almost 1 year!. Try to buy other Fender guitars!.

Before you pick up an electric guitar, i suggest you should start with an acoustic guitar!. This way you can learn how to hold, strum and play lead before you move on to electric guitar!. Besides that, it is much easier to learn acoustic guitar rather learning using an electric guitar!. You also no need to worry about amp!.

You should learn how to hold the guitar first!. Then you can go with the strumming and rythm!. Try listening to a song and play a long with it!. This way, you will be able to learn how to strum better!.

If you have one later, try to keep your guitar clean!. Clean up the strings before and after you play with it!. Make sure the pick ups are clean to make sure it produce good harmony sounds!.

For an amp, I'll suggest you to buy a Marshall amp!. It produce superb sounds and last long!. I always use my Marshall amp for performances!. It is always great!. try to buy 15 watt if you can afford it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Stratocaster is a good beginners guitar!.
You should probably learn how to hold the guitar in a comfortable position so you don't hate it in 3 days!.
You're not going to know how to actually play it until you know what you're doing so if you want to learn a good way try getting a teacher, other than that surf the web for videos & such!.
Naturally you're going to build calluses & it's going to hurt, but it's for good!.
As for an amp you should probably start small, you're not going to be playing shows yet, so just get something tiny that's not that expensive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

personal opinion, try to avoid squire!. they got outta tune frequently

if you wanna build up cauleses and get strong hands, start on acoustic!. Your fingures will be very strong and the will aid you when you start playing electric!.

Get a nice amp, doenst need to be SUPER loud, but desent warm sounding, tube amps are always good!.

bad habbits in my opinion, is learing songs by tabs and internet, its the best for you to learn from ear, it will be sooo helpfull in the end, im NOT saying tabs are bad tho, they do help

good luck bud!! youll do great!
