For your musical symbols, the way I remember them is when your reading the music and you run into the symbol, what is it like!? This is the symbol for sharp # running into that would be sharp!. And flat is like b that has a flat side!.

C Major: C D E F G A B C
C Minor: A B C D E F G A
G Major: G A B C D E F# G
D Major: D E F# G A B C# D
A Major: A B C# D E F# G# A
E Major: E F# G# A B C# D# E
F Major: F G A Bb C D E F
Bb Major: Bb C D Eb F G A Bb
Eb Major: Eb F G Ab Bb C D Eb

If you have trouble remembering key signature for songs, a little thing that might help you, as it did me is this!.!.

Number of b's: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Flat Notes: B E A D G C F

And for your songs with a sharp key signature, just reverse the order of the letters!.

I hope this helps you out!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Here is a quick formula to calculate Majors and Minors

First let me explain W=whole step
H=half step

There are twelve notes in music!. that is including sharps and flats!.

Without sharps and flats there are seven notes!. so lets look at notes using Numbers and blocks

1 W 2 W 3 h 4 W 5 W 6 W 7

This is that all music starts with!. It is called the Ionian or the Major!. So if you want to know what notes are in any major key!. Just take the key note and plug it into the # 1 spot and from there you can feel in the rest of the notes:

Example: C Major

I 1 I I 2 I I 3 I 4 I I 5 I I 6 I I 7 I back to one which is half step

I C I I DI I E I F I I G I I A I I B I

The thing to remeber is what notes have half steps and wholes steps inbetween them!. Just remmber on the natural notes E-F is a half step and B-C is a half step all other natural notes are whole steps C-D,G-A,
A-B,

-So lets look at another example with this formula Knowing that!.

A Major

I 1 I I 2 I I 3 I 4 I I 5 I I 6 I I 7 I

A B C# D E F# G#

See in the formula 1-2 is a whole step so if you start with A then the whole step will bring you to B!. But with 2-3 you have another whole, but B-C is a half step so when you plug it into the formula it becomes C#!. Understand!? same with 5-6 E-F is a half step, but in the formula the note need to land on 6 a whole step away so it becomes F#!.

-I don't Know if that will help but there you go theres a formula guide!.

oh yeah the formula guide for Minors

in the orginal formula blocks of the major flat the 3, 6, 7

Example A minor

I 1 I I 2 I b3 I I 4 I I 5 I b6 I I b7 I

A B C D E F G

Making any sense!? You can Email if it doesn't and want to know more!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
