Question: Is it hard to play the guitar!?
I've been playing piano for almost 10 years and I was wondering if it will be hard for me to learn how to play the guitar!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Nah!.!.!.after playing the piano for 12 years myself, I picked up the guitar and practically taught myself how to play!. It's really not hard getting to know the chords and chord patterns!. However, the only thing that will frustrate you in the beginning is coordination!. What I mean by that is rapidly changing from one chord to another on the proper frets and strings!.

Hell, Bob Dylan probably wrote 30 songs using only 3 chords G, C and D!. lol but he made millions doing it!. I would start off with learning open chords first, power chords 2nd and bar chords last!. But the open chords shall keep you going for awhile!.

Best of luck to you,

While some people will try to say guitar is easy, it's like anything else!. It's not easy to master!. Although it's true that some people have talent, most of us have to devote hours and hours and hours of our time practicing to become accomplished musicians!. You will have a big advantage having learned the piano already gives you an edge in music theory which will jump start you in the guitar!. You can sight read and that means you will be able to learn guitar in the classical method instead of tab, which is great!.
Hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well since you know music theory that should help!. Then you should learn all the notes on the guitar so you will be able to put chords together and learn different major scale patterns so you will be able to improvise!. A program called fretboard warrior is good to learn the notes on the guitar and can be addicting to play !
