LOOK! Calm down!. Drill is not that hard!. Try first year with 160 cut time! That's hard!. You will be fine!. I blanked out yesterday at my practice and had no idea where I went in the ballad but we follow the same people the whole time so no big deal!. You will be doing drill in your sleep you will know it so well!. No really!. I was dreaming about my drill EVERYDAY! Still am really!. Falling doesn't happen often!. We had our first person fall yesterday and we had been working for months!.

Do you mean 8 to 5!?!.!.!.

I have a part for 20 counts that I am going 2 to 5 or less!. Don't worry!. You'll be fine!.

This is my first year too!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

being nervous before starting something new is totally normal!.
you are new to this, all rookies WILL mess up, but so will the upperclassmen!! they aren't perfect, you aren't perfect!.
you just need to pay attention to everything they tell you!.

you don't need to worry about forgetting something!. 99!.9% of the band will forget something atlast at one point in the band season!. you will practice the same drill for 100 something times, so it will be practically imprinted in your brain!!

176 is a very fun tempo to march!. it isn't as hard as it may seem at first!. you shouldn't have to march 3 to 5 for the whole thing! that's impossible!. you'll pass out during the opener! lol!. i'm pretty sure it will vary from 16 to 5, 12 to 5, 8 to 5, and 6 to 5!. but don't worry! you'll learn all about that during band camp!.

band camp is so much fun! that's where you learn all that you need to know about marching!. you won't be expected to know everything, and you won't be expected to be perfect your first year of band!.

just, don't worry too much about it! after your first band camp, you'll wonder why you were so worried about it! just have fun, and enjoy every minute of it!. when you're a senior, you'll realize how much you love it!.

:)Www@QuestionHome@Com

You're not going to be expected the minute you walk in to be able to march that tempo!. You will probably start a lot slower!. You'll also work on exercises and stuff during camp that'll help you!. And if you fall just laugh about it!. I fell twice during camp this year!. Once in a competition that came down between me and my best friend that everyone was watching and another one during "relays" when i pulled a muscle and my leg just gave out!.

You'll be fine, just make sure you have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You definitely shouldn't be nervous!. I just finished band camp and it was a lot of hard work, but it's worth it!. Just seeing how amazing everyone has become is just amazing! By the way, it should be 8 to 5, not 3 to 5!. 176 isn't too bad!. And about not knowing what you're doing, no one expects you to know exactly what you're doing on the first day!. Just be yourself and have fun with it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all: just STOP questioning yourself and all these "what if!.!.!." situations!. Most "What if!.!.!." situations are highly irrational anyway ("What if I fail at life and never succeed and live with my Mom in her basement while doing the unthinkable and watch R-rated movies while she's away for BINGO NIGHT!?!")!.

With the continual drills, I'm sure you'll get better and better!. The reason you attend band camp is to better yourself, not arrive promptly perfect :P

You WON'T fail :-)Www@QuestionHome@Com

In marching band, the first thing is marching!. If you just have to fake playing until you find your way, do it!. As to where you are going they will explain!.
Hopefully your director shows patience!. If not do not take it personally!. He/She is stressed to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1!. you are a rookie, everyone knows you are a rookie, so stop stressing!
2!. camp is where you learn all these skills, do your best to improve each day!.
3!. camp (& marching band) can be incredible fun!
