Hi Bam

I suspect your neck is bowed slightly which accounts for the string buzzing!.
Put one finger on the 1st fret and another on the 12th fret!. There should be a clearance of minimum 1/8" between fingerboard and string!.

If the string touches the 7th fret, than you will have to loosen the truss rod by 1/4 turn counter-clockwise!. When you get that clearance, the buzz will go away!.
I doubt that you will need to raise the action!. Adjust the truss rod if needed !. if that doesn't solve the issue, change strings because they are old or defective and are vibrating against the fret!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!. It's not normal!. You may have a case of fret buzz, or one or more of the strings is hitting the top of a pickup!. In addition, the vibration of the string may be causing a piece of hardware to rattle!.

Here is where you can read all about fret buzz, how to diagnose odd sounds and some info on proper set-ups!.
