Under 100 dollars is pretty cheap for a new guitar, I recommend you get a new one because you probably don't know potential problems to look for on a used guitar, especially an acoustic!. If under 100 is all you can spend on one then go for it, but I would say at least 100-200 range for your first one!. Even if you find out you don't like it you could make most of your money back by selling it!.

Jasmine by Takamine is a good starter $160 ish
Alvarez - good brand 160-200+
Fender (not squire)- can find some models under 200

I'm personally not a big yamaha fan, IMO might as well buy that 80 instead

A couple of important tips I tell everyone starting:

1) Have your new guitar set-up from a professional guitar tech at a local guitar store!. ($30 or so) This is especially important for new players beacuse they will set the action of the strings lower so it's easier to play!. also an experienced tech can pull out the full potential of any guitar, even a $100 one, making it sound like a more expensive guitar!.

2) Buy a guitar stand, (10-20 bucks) This will make your guitar more accessible and you'll be more apt to pick it up and practice!. Trust me on this one!.!. =)

Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yamaha makes a perfectly serviceable guitar that is inexpensive!. Segovia would not have played one, but, hey, that's his problem!.
No reason to spend a lot of money on your first guitar!. Save the money for a good guitar teacher!.
If you don't already have a teacher, think of hooking up with one -- before you buy a guitar!. He or she may have some suggestions that can save you mucho dinero, as we say in the Cafe Flamenco de Sevilla!. Yes, you can learn the fundamentals of guitar on your own, but that's almost guaranteed to make it a one-season experiment!.
Even if you don't intend to play for more than yourself and a few admiring friends, it's a skill that can be rewarding all your life--if nurtured correctly from the getgo!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Maybe it's a piece of crap, but it's hopefully a playable piece of crap!. That's basically what I have!. A made-in-China $50 acoustic!. But it plays fine and sounds decent too!. Especially if you are just learning, the sound shouldn't matter too much!.
Look in pawn shops!. That's where I got mine!. Or buy it from a friend!. Then later on if you still want to play you can start looking for better quality guitars in music stores like Guitar Center or Mills Music or something!. And you can sell the cheaper one in a pawn shop or on eBay or something!.
Sorry I don't know anything about brands!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you bought a !.25 cent wristwatch!.!.!. does that mean it's a piece of crap!? If you bought a CD Player for a $1 bill, does that mean it's a piece of crap!?

Then WHY do you think you can only pay $100 for a guitar at Wal-Mart and it's going to be equal to a $3000 Martin!.

YES!.!. a $100 guitar is JUNK!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

sometimes, yet not always, the best may be gibson, fender, type, you could look at yamaha for acoustic, , before you buy any (except second hand online), is that when tuned, that the neck is straight, and theres no frets out of alignment,

Absolutely not!. I play a $3000 Taylor and a $60 Epiphone and love them both!.

Like anything else in life, what you pay for something may have nothing to do with its value!.

Vintage guitar collectors all around the world will agree with me!. Grampa's crappy old Fender you found in the attic could be worth as much as the house you live in!.

The secret lies in not paying $100 for a NEW guitar!. Buy a used guitar for the same amount and chances are, you'll get a better quality instrument!.

Good luck!

Edit: also, brand name doesn't matter at this level (entry)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you wont learn any faster because you spent more money!.
generally speaking it is easier for a beginner to play an electric than an acoustic!.
i suggest taking someone who knows a little about it to the store with you and buying second hand!.
i wouldnt pay any atention to the make!. just get one that is comfortable for you and stays in tune all the way up and down the neck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For an acoustic!? No, not necessarily!. Especially if you are just starting out!. You don't really need an expensive guitar to begin with just in case you do quit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Bob marley learned on a guitar that was missing strings!. A cheap guitar will still allow you to learn the fundamentals and help you decide if guitar is something you want to pursueWww@QuestionHome@Com

Is it an air guitar!? If so, then you got ripped off!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

shop around at the quitar shop, you're not going to find a good brand for $100Www@QuestionHome@Com
