In drop D, all strings on the guitar stay in standard tuning, except the top string, which you will down-tune to a D (it is an E in standard tuning)

The best way to do this is to tune it by using your fourth string (from the bottom) as a guide since your fourth string is a D, assuming that your guitar is in standard E tuning!.

Tune your top string down until it is the same note as your fourth string!. Keep in mind that this will make it the same note (D), but it will be one octave lower than the fourth string!. If you want to be sure that you have successfully match the note, you can pluck both strings at the sam time and listen to see if you can hear any "waving" sound between the two notes!. If you dont hear waving, you have matched the note!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

put one of your fingers on the 7th fret of the 6th string and hit that note and the open 5th string and just turn the tuning peg for the 6th string until they sound the same

<>put a finger on 7th fret of sixth string
<> hit the note with the finger on the 7th fret and hit open 5th string
<>turn peg for 6th string until those 2 notes sound the sameWww@QuestionHome@Com

Tune the the low E string to a D, if you don't know how to tune it to a D try using a electric tuner, or go to a guitar shop and ask them to tune it for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Tune you 6th string (E) down to D!. use a tuner or play the fifth fret on the fifth string which is also a D just a different octave and just try to match them up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

from standard tuning(EADGBE) you drop the lowest string, low E, one whole step ( two frets)!.the low E, fretted at the seventh fret, should sound like the A string open (unfretted)!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Easy- just tune the low E string down to D!. Use a chromatic tuner if you need to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
